Some instances stopped federating ~11 months ago

There are several channels that my server suddenly stopped receiving info from ~11 months ago. Off the top of my head, tilvids, neattube and makertube. If I go to any of those channels from my instance, the last video is 11 months ago. If I go to the remote instance, they all appear.

Further, if I go to the remote instance, click the comment box and then the “remote interact”, that video (and ONLY that video) suddenly appears on my local instance.

Hi,

Unsubscribing and resubscribing should fix this. We plan to check subscription links between instances in the future to avoid this kind of break.

I’ve got a similar problem and unfollowing then refollowing doesn’t seem to fix it.

I federate specific channels and accounts rather than entire instances, and at some point some of the channels/accounts stop appearing on my instance. For example here’s how Jason Cryer looks like on my instance:

https://fedi.video/a/jason_cryer@spectra.video/videos

…and here’s how the same account looks on the original instance:

https://spectra.video/a/jason_cryer/videos

I’ve seen this happen with other channels from other instances too, and unfollowing/refollowing doesn’t work, it doesn’t add any of the new videos.

I also tried the remote interact thing and that doesn’t work either, it gives the message “Cannot access to the remote resource”.

I also tried pasting a missing video’s remote URL into the search box on my instance and it couldn’t find the video.

It’s like it gets to a certain point and stops fetching any new videos from that channel after that date and nothing I do can make it notice those new videos.

@FediVideo I answered on https://github.com/Chocobozzz/PeerTube/issues/7585 but if re-following doesn’t fix you issue, it might be another bug.

Can you enable peertube debug logs, re-follow the channel and send them to me?

I’ve tried refollowing, the follower number on the remote account and on the remote channel both went up by one when I followed them both. However, the newer videos from the remote account and channelstill aren’t visible on my instance, it’s just the same older videos as before.

The only errors in the debug with timestamps after the refollows are:

One other thing, I checked the jobs and the activitypub-http-fetcher completed these tasks:

Job: 67283

I think this is what it is supposed to be fetching, but for some reason it isn’t adding the new videos? My instance has got permanently stuck on an older version of the remote outboxes and isn’t refreshing their contents?

By the way, to make clear, I am not federating any entire remote instances. I am only federating specific remote channels and accounts to my instance. Perhaps this is rare and is causing unexpected effects?
